Biography
Assistant Professor, Media and Communication, School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Energy University Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Words weave wonders! Of course, nothing could be truer. Now consider the next statement. A picture is worth a thousand words! This is as emphatic a truth as the previous one. Well, if you seek my opinion, I believe in both. Contradictory? Not really! In fact, words and photographs complement each other. Add a dash of empathy to the twin entities. We now have the most potent combination of the lot. That is exactly what I do. I click photographs, add words to it, sprinkle a little bit of empathy and express myself. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn – you name it and I make it a point to announce my presence on each of the mentioned platforms. A social media geek and a compulsive communicator, life for me is a combination of offline and online human and animal connections. A believer in humanity and a feminist by choice, structured political biases and strategic ideological slavery disgust me. I believe that crudity and loudness stem from severe insecurity and a stark shortage of intellectual content.
I know my limitations and I am also aware of my strengths. I strongly indulge in developing my strengths while working within the confines of my weaknesses. I live in two different compartments – professional and personal. I painstakingly ensure that one never overlaps with the other thereby creating imbalance.
I have seen life in different colours and hence nothing surprises me. However, I still believe in the supremacy of humanity. To me, travelling is cathartic and chatting (often pointlessly) to my heart’s content liberates my soul. Now that I have talked enough about my personal traits, it is time to move over to the professional side of the story.
An enterprising and focused individual, I have a total work experience of more than 13 years, which encompasses nearly five years in academics, over half a decade in secondary market research and three years in marketing, counselling and operations management. I have a proven track record in handling research projects across industries and regions. I have also trained my guns in leading teams, managing projects and training and mentoring team members. I also briefly worked as an educational journalist. Coupled with effective communication skills, I have also mastered the art of interpersonal relationships. I deeply focus on client satisfaction and strive for positive feedback.
My decision to shift to academics has been a rewarding one as teaching and research suit me more than anything else. I did my Ph.D. in Digital Government Public Relations from the same organization where I am currently working. I have a couple of postgraduate degrees – Master of Arts (MA) in Journalism and Mass Communication from Tripura (Central) University and Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) in Marketing from Symbiosis International (Deemed University). I like to successfully blend academics with the art of communication thus ensuring the overall development of learners.
